- To understand general topics of the oral language when spoken at normal tempo on a subject dealing within the range of the text content.
- To read and speak using the patterns of the English language when given a written selection within the student’s vocabulary range.
- To be aware of significant features of different countries where English is spoken.
- To gain knowledge and understanding of the American culture.
- To gain knowledge and understanding of writing, reading, listening and speaking in the English language when used at normal tempo on a subject coinciding with the laboratory assignments. (Lab assignments will be based on Tell Me More software.)
- To develop vocational English skills needed in a work environment.
In achieving these objectives students gain an understanding in:
- To understand oral language when spoken at normal tempo.
- To read and to speak using the patterns of the English language appropriate to level.
- To understand linguistic concepts such as the nature of the language and how to function through its structural system.
- To be aware of significant features (geographical, economic, political, cultural) of the United States.
- To gain knowledge and understanding of writing, reading, listening and speaking in the English language when used at normal tempo on a subject dealing within the range of content of the laboratory assignments. (All lab assignments will be based on Tell Me More software.)
- To develop vocational English skills needed in a work environment.
In achieving these objectives students gain an understanding in:
- Understand, read, write and speak English at the intermediate to advanced level of proficiency, which includes being able to have a regular conversation in English.
- Be able to write paragraphs and short essays in English.
- Be able to understand and speak in every setting of English.
- Have acquired a higher level of appreciation and understanding of the culture of English speaking countries. (All lab assignments will be based on Tell Me More software.)
