Scott: Good morning Laurie, what is the Cox Health Foundation?

Laurie: The Cox Health foundation is a not for profit philanthropic department of our already not for profit system. What we do is provide assistance to patients so when someone comes to Cox for care and they need assistance with medication, equipment, or specialized testing, we the foundation, have gone out and raised the money within Cox Health and within the community to meet the need of that patient. We have some funds that are unrestricted and we have some funds that are restricted; so specialized things like cancer funds, brain trauma funds, we have funds specialized and restricted to testing. So, if someone cannot afford a colonoscopy in our community we raise those funds to meet that need. We take the Cox Health mission and extend that in the form of assistance to our patients.
